Daniel C. Ritson
For more than 20 years, Dan has focused his practice on employment law counseling and litigation defense for employers. He serves as general outside employment counsel to businesses across the industry spectrum and the country, and provides advice and counsel to employers on myriad day-to-day employment related matters, including: wage and hour compliance; family and medical leave policies and practices; pregnancy and disability accommodations; anti-discrimination and harassment policies and training; hiring, discipline, and discharge of employees; independent contractor relationships; and restructurings and layoffs. He prepares all manner of employment-related documents, relying on decades of experience regarding the terms and conditions that really matter, and regularly represents employers in disputes before Federal and State courts and government agencies, with a particular concentration in the defense of wage and hour lawsuits, including collective and class actions.
Dan’s practice is firmly rooted in practicality and the bottom line. He fiercely believes that clients deserve a sharp, focused picture of their options and how best to pursue them, that a lecture on the law never has helped anyone in the real world, and that a legal problem should be approached not as an academic exercise but rather as an obstacle to be overcome with ruthless efficiency and as cost-effectively as possible.
When Dan isn’t solving legal issues, he can be found with a barbell on his back or a book in his hands. He loves animals, any location by the water, and camaraderie over an irresponsible meal.
