Melissa Spurr

Melissa is counsel at the firm, and focuses her practice on tax-related and corporate advisory matters, ranging from business deals and strategy to income tax and estate planning for business owners.

Melissa’s practice started in the finance department of an international law firm in New York City, then ventured in-house to a privately held multinational hospitality business. Her favorite thing about working with businesses and business owners is that she is always learning about new business models and strategies, and is working with clients with a strong business mindset. Her clients include startups seeking venture capital, local businesses needing formation and operational legal advice and documentation, established businesses navigating expansion, crises, and refinement of operations, and individual business owners planning big-picture for their personal and business assets.

Apart from her “day job”, Melissa has been appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the Committee on Character, is presently a Trustee of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation, and actively volunteers in her daughters’ schools. She is the current Secretary of the Summit Bar Association and a member of the Summit New Providence Rotary. When not at her desk, you’d probably find her baking or outside gardening or walking the dog, but she’d definitely be daydreaming about reading in a hammock.

Melissa is fluent in Serbo-Croatian, and speaks intermediate Italian and conversational Mandarin.
